should I be freaked out?

We have a stray kitty hanging around. I waited a week before I started feeding her, hoping she would go back home, but she didn’t. She is so sweet, she must have been someone’s house cat, and she loves to snuggle.

I can’t let her inside due to allergies several of us deal with. So she lives on the back porch. I set her up with a nice little bed, and she is doing great.

The other night I went out on the back porch, and she was rubbing against my legs.

So I ask her, “Why don’t you catch the mouse that lives out here?”

Kitty walks over to a table, reaches under it and pulls out a dead mouse. Then she returns to me. I patted her and told her she was a good kitty, but I don’t really want the mouse sitting out. She returned to the dead mouse, and pushed it back under the table. Hmmmm….

A few minutes later, I casually mention it again. “Where’s the mouse, Kitty?”

Again she returns to the table, reaches a paw under it, and snags the dead mouse out. This time she grabs it’s tail and flings it at me. Aaaahhh! I screached, of course. So I ask her to please eat the mouse instead of throwing it at me.

So she settled down and began eating it. I quickly decided that was worse, and I tapped on the window to get my son to send out his father with a plastic bag.

Honestly, this cat seems to understand English. It is kind of creepy!

  1. Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

…whew! Well, maybe she was trying to make a good impression–showing you how much she understands English–so she can stay!

    • I hope that is all it is…. weird kitty. :)

  2. What a GOOD kitty! GOOD kitty. Stay. Catch lots of mice. Be our protector. GOOD kitty. Here’s a treat before I go back inside…

You take your guardian angels as you get them, and trust me, angels are NEVER pretty or civilized (seen “Angels in America”? You oughta…)

Take care of that cat – it wants to take care of you!

    • I really like the kitty. I’ve just never met a cat that understands English before. :)

  3. That’s unbelievable! And yes, a bit creepy!!!

  4. Maybe the cat can do your taxes? That is one strange beast you have there.

  5. Michelle, yeah. Kind of spooky too!

Mike, now THAT would be a useful skill! I’ll ask her.

  6. Yeah. And if that cat can help me pay less taxes…I’d settle for dead mice being thrown at me!

  7. Errr…Maybe not, but you get the idear!

  8. I think she is really just a dog on the inside….trying desparately to get out!

Seriously? I hate cats but this one? Shes a keeper!

  9. Whoa. That is creepy.

  11. That was so dang strange – I had to read it to my husband. You should get that cat checked out…

  12. I’m officially creeped out now! Ha! Ha!

Hope you’re doing well, Heather. :)

  13. Nor, I’m not sure I could deal with dead mice just for less taxes.

Melody, if I could ship her to you, I would! :)

    Epiphany, yes… yes it is.

Darla, I prefer dogs too. But I do like this cat.

Mandy! I’m thinking that perhaps I do need some serious help!

David, thanks! I’m doing ok, but it is Heidi.
